Barclaycard Cover

Hi, I wonder if anyone could help me on where I stand with an issue I have with Barclaycard.

I've had the credit card with them for over 6 years now and not had any real issue. I've apparently taken out insurance with them just after taking the card out. This shows on my statement as £6 a month for "Accidental Death Cover". I've never really chased up what this cover was about so I've phoned them up today to find out more about it.

I was told Stonebridge Insurance are in charge of the policy so I phoned them up and they pulled my records up. They said I took out the cover in Sep 2006, of which they say Barclaycard phoned 4 times to take the cover out.

They say that the cover I have out with them is "Drivers Protection Insurance" (not "Accidental Death Cover" as stated on my credit card bill) giving me cover in case I'm in a car accident or get hit crossing the road. I don't drive and as I was out of the country for 2 of the 6 years of the cover so I've never had a need to have this cover.

My main question is even if I did consent to taking out cover over the phone, of any kind back in September 2006, I received no documentation of such a policy. I've continued paying for what I thought was "Accidental Death Cover" as it wasn't expensive yet I'm now told I was paying for a different policy, of which I'd have cancelled ASAP if it flagged on my statement as "Drivers Protection Insurance." Who should I get in touch with about this issue, Barclarcard or Stonebridge Insurance? or another party altogether?

Thanks guys for any help on this issue.

If Barclaycard arranged it I would write a letter of complaint to them in the first instance saying you have been missold for cover you could not have used.

Ask them to provide either a recording of the call where you agreed to the insurance or the paperwork as you don't believe you ever agreed to the cover.

Ask them to refund all your premiums plus interest or you will refer the matter to the insurance ombudsman.

    Good luck
