pre pay meter hell

Scottish Power would charge for this type of non-essential meter change too.
Some suppliers may agree to charge a single rate tariff whilst the customer retains a multi-rate meter, and so avoiding the cost of a meter replacement.
(SP won't)
Yes, noticed this quoted on threads before. It seems SP have tried to make it perhaps fairer by charging for both?
Interesting that SP won't charge a single tariff which is the opposite if Eon's recent quote on another thread. The truth lies somewhere inbetween where the data in the industry states what the meter is allowed to do. So for these, SP are charging unnecessarily IMO.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
