I've been a nail chewer forever and I was inspired by QVC OPI hour the other day to try to grow them (just to the end of my fingers) I often watch QVC but never ever buy anything!! Anyway they had something called nail envy on there, which i looked for on ebay and it still costs about a tenner.
I know if i spent a tenner i'd probably force myself not to chew lol But are there any ather ideas? I tried the nasty tasting stuff you paint on, years ago and i still chewed and so i ended up vomiting because i'd ingested too much of it!!
Any tips would be good thanks.

It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

i found the most effective way to grow my nails was to get a fake set put on so I couldn't get to them. They looked very nice and when it was time to take them off, my own nails had grown underneath. Breaks the habit too
Good luckTotal abstinence is so excellent a thing that it cannot be carried to too great an extent. In my passion for it I even carry it so far as to totally abstain from total abstinence itself. Oscar Wilde0 -
Pure willpower did it for me !! After chewing for years, one day I just decided to grow them and now 7 years later I've still got them. I have lapsed occasionally if one has broken and had a chew but to be honest if you can get through a week or so the craving will go. Good luck and hope you have an easy time of it.ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0

I had acrylics on for a couple of years until long nails became so normal for me that by the time that I grew my own the habit was well gone. I used OPI Nail Envy and Avoplex Oil to get them healthy and strong after the acrylics came off for good. I now use Nails Inc. hardener and cuticle oil.:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0

Apparently the "in" thing with girlies is to have short nails at the moment? You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
For me it took willpower, I had a long look at my nail and told myself how ugly they looked all bitten down. I was ashamed to show my hand but now I have lovely nail.World of Warcraft Widow No 10

The only thing which stops me biting my nails even now is keeping them very very smooth. I have an emery board in my purse, and in my desk drawer. As soon as I feel a rough bit, I have to smooth it down. I am sure I only started biting to get rid of 'rough' bits - brushed nylon nighties! :eek:Signature removed for peace of mind0

I tried the yukky no bite liquids ... Sally Hansen last time. It worked and my nails grew and were gorgeous for about 10 months, then I started reading such a good book and the nail biting started again.
If i wanted to grow mine I would have to stop reading unfortunately, or just read crap !!No Signature Required ......0 -
Maybe read with gloves on?:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0

Personally I don't bite mine if I have nail polish on them. But they still break lol.:rotfl:0

Hello hello folks,
I must confess I am a nail biter but only due to laziness, my nails are weak and tear and rip, and as soon as I get them long they all tend to tear off to the quick all at once so for me it's easier to keep them short, however almond oil rubbed into the nail and the cuticle works miracles, it toughens them up no end, and it's dead cheap, try it putting it on a couple of times a week, you'll not believe the difference it makes!
Hope this helps
