When to Neuter your kitten

I agree, and I think the whole culture has to change starting from the vets themselves....when owners bring their pets in for first checks, in that first flush of enthusiasm, I think they should be sold a discounted package to include vaccines, neutering and chipping. It should be presented as a fait accompli that all 3 of these will be done within the first few months.gettingready wrote: »both microchipping and neutering should be stickies on here
I was VERY disappointed with the Paul O'Grady/Battersea show...in between all his hamming up to camera and cuddling of cute puppies I think he should have been hammering home the message that all these animals should be neutered, that CP and other charities will help financially.
They made it look like all the puppies were cute and would get adopted by someone rich and famous like Dr Fox....argh!0 -

My vet has a package similar to that. Vaccines, wormer, flea treatment and a chip. Plus you get discount of the op.
The first time I saw them they asked do you want the chip done with a needle or when we neuter her. Without any prompting from me.
They just happen to be my local vet and that package isn't the cheapest if you are just looking for vaccines. But it is a step in the right direction

My vet recommended leaving as long as possible for my two Bengals if I wanted good solid boys - they were done at 6 months.0

We were actually neutering cats at 4mths of age 30 years ago so it's nothing new but I agree, there are some vets who prefer to wait until they're older. Personally I don't understand why, as you've seen from the video the kittens come to no harm and it's far less traumatic for them.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
