Hi all
Well as the title sayes, my youngest started in reception this morning. She's a pretty hardy child and has been going to pre-school and the like since she was very young. Her sister (now 15) was awful on her first day at school but i thought she'd be different. Anyway this morning she was traumatised! She was ok until we actually went into the classroom. I think she was just overwhelmed as it was really busy with parents and kids everywhere. She started crying, then sobbing uncontrollably.
I did stay a little while longer than all the other parents but there comes a point when you just have to leave. This involved her being prised off my neck!
Anyway, the reason I posted is that if there are any other parents out there who have gone through this this morning, I just wanted to say that it does get easier, they're fine and not to worry if yours was the only child crying. Teachers are used to it, they've done it before and your little-un will have a lovely day. I had a little cry when I got home and am now getting on with my day. I'm really looking forward to seeing her at 3:15.

Awwww bless her little socks!
She'll be settled in no time! If she's anything like my niece and nephew, come 3.15 she won't be ready to go home, and will have so many exciting things to tell you

I have this to go through next monday. Think she will be okay - but you never know! Both her big brothers (16 & 15) were fine so fingers crossed.
Hope she has a good day, WickedWitch. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Its was my sons first day today at school but was previously in their nursery as its a shared foundation stage unit. Still in the same shared class room. He couldnt wait to get back in and didn't even say bye lol
When he went to nursery he took ages to settle, he didnt sleep and didnt eat much for weeks and cried every day for 6 weeks. We had just moved house 2 weeks before he started so it was all to much.
But as wickedwitch123 said, hang in there and it does get better. They get to the point where they want to go on a weekend and like my DS said 'Im going to marry my teacher' lolPPI Claims won £3000:j now free of all credit card debt after 10 years.

This is not unusual and I'm sure the school is on top of it, and she's fine shortly after you leave.
For about the first 6 months it took 2 teachers to prise me off my mother by force (she had big buttons on her coat I used to cling on to with a death grip) and physically carry me into the school. But I was fine once I was in - she sneaked back and peeked through the windows a couple of times and I'd settled down fine. I actually liked school, it was the 'separation' bit that used to get to me as I'd never been to nursery or anywhere without my mum.

My kids arent old enough for school yet but i'm hoping they have no issues when they do go! They're used to being around lots of different kids and adults as we have a big family and also the childminder so i'm hoping there wont be too much seperation anxiety!
I'm going to book the day off so i can drop them off and pick them up (my wife would usually do this)MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
