Overdraft charges

Hi there can anyone help,

I bank with the Natwest and always have done, I have been in a large overdraft for the past 4 years and I am being charged every month very highly, I am due to see the bank this afternoon to see if I can stop these charges and sort something out.

Does anyone know whether I can claim these charges back for all the years that I have paid out, it would amount to a couple of grand if so,

Thanks,

Big daft idiot.

Yeah defiantly how dare they charge you for lending you money it's outrageous.
  • Hi Bugsy,

They call it Interest charge, obviously i never read any small print originally,

hope I can claim it back!!!
  • Bugsy, that either went over his head or under his bridge....

Big daft idiot (your name, not an insult) when you signed up for the account, you would have received terms and conditions. It is YOUR responsibility to read them. These would include the charges applied to overdrafts. When the rates are altered, customers receive a letter and booklet containing details of these changes. It is up to you to read these too.

If you do not move your account elsewhere at that time, or ask for an alternative type of account, you are perceived to have accepted those changes and charges.

You have used the facility, it had a fee attached, whatever they call it. You might not like the fee, but you agreed to it. The chances of you getting anything back is fairly small, unless someone has a fit of goodwill. It won't be much.
