maternity leave and tax credits

Hi, i'm currently on maternity leave and recieving child tax credits. My 39 weeks end middle of october but i was wondering, if i were to take the extra 13 weeks off, so taking the whole year instead of just the 39 weeks would the child tax credit increase for that period. My partner still works full time.

  • if you go into the unpaid portion of mat leave and you are claiming wtc then you have to inform them.

when you gave an estimate of income for 2012-2013 you make anyallowance for your maternity pay- you deduct £100 a week so basically £3900-from your normal income.
i've always done it that way, and because we dont claim wtc have never told them about unpaid mat leave, but then i also havent taken much and have preferred to use my holiday entitlement instead.
