I think that I killed the oven yesterday!

We have a very simple Hotpoint fan assisted oven (stainless steel, 60cm built in under worktop), and yesterday I think that I killed it.
During the day I made a couple of loaves, then in the evening I made some kebabs under the grill. Towards the end of grilling, the oven lights went out, and the grill stopped, so I turned the whole lot off and on again and it worked for a couple of minutes, then there were some sparks from the front (grill or clock display area) and it went dead again. So bearing in mind the little pyrotechnic display, I decided to finish the kebabs off on the hob in a griddle pan (they were lovely as well:D).
So, I am guessing that the oven is not worth repairing (over ten years old), and was wondering what is the best electric, single oven (fan assisted with grill) for under £300. I have been looking at Hotpoint, Baumatic, Beko and Argos own brand.
