Good Pub Sunday Roast nr Caerphilly

Options
Hey Guys,

I fancy taking my girlfriend out for a lovely Sunday roast but not sure where to take her! She lives in Caerphilly so maybe somewhere near there would be great!

  • Well I'm new to the area but went to the cedar tree which is a carvery. I really enjoyed it and piled the food on as it's self service for veg etc

It's just off a roundabout so easy access

The Hollybush at Coryton is lovely and cheaper than the others. The Upper Boat near Pontypridd is the same chain.
You can't beat a Toby carvery either, one at Cardiff Gate and one down Manor Way in Cardiff

The Green Lady in Caerphilly does pretty good Sunday lunch :-) decent amount of nice meat and massive portions of veg, homely and quite good value.

I second toby carvery! the nearest one to Caerphilly is at Whitchurch, on the way into Cardiff.

Upper Boat at trefforest estate is thumbs up too.

sadly I can't agree with Cedar Tree though.. in the old days before it was 'modernised' and renovated to look like a generic modern gastro pub, it used to be this quaint little carvery with very personalised and warm friendly staff and great food, now its staff are cold, can't be bothered and commercialised and the carvery is average at best.

The Carvery in Upper Boat is lovely and very reasonably priced...never had a bad meal there!

I'd avoid the carvery at Upper Boat, it used to be really nice but has gone down hill.

The Toby Carvery in Whitchurch is lovely, went there a couple of weeks ago and it was great, a bigger range of better cooked veg and extra meat on the menu compared to Upper Boat.
