Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your present difficulties. You need to tap into the various agencies/organisations that can assist you to get your full benefit entitlement and access to housing quickly.
Here are a few thoughts to get you started:
- Adult social care assessment. You can request one from your local authority, they will visit you and assess what is necessary to ensure you have the tools/help to self care, cook etc. They will normally write a report and this should detail that your present temporary accommodation is not suitable (this can be used to support priority homelssness housing)
- Disability Living Allowance. If you are a wheelchair user this suggests to me that you have significant mobility difficulties. DLA has 2 components: care; and mobility and if you are awarded the higher rate mobility (unable to walk or virtually unable to walk) then you will be able to access the Motability scheme for a wheelchair friendly car, blue badge etc
- Housing Support. I do not know what housing support is available in your area but there are several organisations that exist to help you get and maintain a tenancy.
Your local CAB, law centre of welfare rights service should be able to give further specific advice to you.0 -
i have just contacted Adult social care assessment in my area thank you benefitbaby0

Ha Adult social care assessment team have contacted me this morning to say because i am homeless there is nothing they can do for me .0

Have you actually been to the housing department and registered yourself as homeless?
You need to do this asap.
Depending on the circumstances as regards your leaving your wife (were you a joint tenant/home owner?) they should give you some help and advice.0 -
In addition, a DLA award may bump you up the housing list, so this is important to get applied for ASAP.0

Good luck djbubbles, keep us informed how you're getting on, I hope you ask for the help you need and get it as soon as possible.
I understand being proud and not wanting to ask for help but please do ask and keep asking and if there's a friend who can go with you and give you some support then take them too.0 -

no i am house bound at the moment i was a joint tenant? but have been removed from the tenancy . the reason i left was she told me she was pregnant i had the snip 15 years ago? and yes i had it checked, the system here is you fill in a online form for housing and i have done this about 3 months ago the houses i can bid for are on the 2nd or 3rd floor i have complained and now the houses i can bid for are ground floor. but am between 15th and 50th on the list ?0 -

DLA is not an out of work benefit, it is awarded for care and/or mobility needs.
You clearly have mobility needs, so you should reapply.
May be worth getting help (CAB) to fill in the forms.0 -
Been there! You need someone who can take a week or two to help you. I would say, go and speak to citizens advice ASAP. They will help with benefits etc and will pebbly be abl to advise on housing too. If you can, find out what band/ category you are in on the housing register. You should really be in the highest band I.e top priority. If not have a look online, if you have access and download a form to be reassessed on medical grounds. What city do you live in? I'll do it for you if you want
