If your GP referred you contact his secretary who is usually the person to do the referrals. If it's a consultant/specialist contact their secretary. They will be able to chase it up for you.
2 months does sound like a long time to wait for notice of an appointment.0 -
thanks, my doctor referred me to a specialist, who booked me in, i rang their secretary a while ago and i was advised the waiting time was usually about 8 weeks as far as she could remember and assured me that i had been booked, i am just wondering how much further i may have to wait, as i don't think she would be able to provide me with any more information were i to ring again.0

you have to be "pushy". Not rude just pleasant and assertive. I've found this out with my Mum who is 88 and worries when she has to wait for weeks. It's amazing how many times I've called to see when an appt will be issued and lo & behold it's arrived in the post a couple of days later. Coincidence ? It's happened too often.0

If you have already spoken to the secretary next port of call, the booking centre. They should be able to give you an approx wait time or may even have the date, but letter has not yet gone out.0

hehe, thanks for the advice, i'll get back on the phone, i don't particularly want to be annoying anyone affiliated to the "scopist" though *grimace*0

You wont be annoying anyone, you seem to of been very patient. If you don't get any joy with the booking centre contact your GP surgery and have a word with either the receptionist or secretary and see if they could call on your behalf, sometimes it does get a better result.
You could also ask the booking centre if they could contact you if a cancellation comes in, our local booking centre does this regulary.0
