returning from travelling - car insurance

Me and my partner are returning to the UK after 5 months of travelling. When we return and come to insure the car, we are a little unsure as what to do, we will both be unemployed (we gave up our jobs to go travelling) but expect to be back in work within 2 - 4 weeks.

When applying for insurance do we have to say unemployed and if so how badly will it affect the cost of insurance? Would it be best to get short term cover?

Yes you will have to declare your unemployed. and yes they will hike your premiums. this was touched on BBC's Watchdog.
Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?
  • Cheers, so would it be worth while getting short term insurance, say upto 28 days?

Short term insurance is costly also. Its risky.

And being unemployed and short term = HUGE risk.

What if it takes you years to get a proper job?
