I have been reading about Denplan and wondered if was worth me joining this or not? Currently I have treatment under NHS bands and wondered if would be more cost effective for me if I joined Denplan, I take it Denplan only covers private costs treatment and not NHS costs of treatment?
Maybe some one can give me more information on this? as I dont know much about it. It may be easier paying a smaller monthly fee rather then having to suddenly pull up like over £200 for a new crown for example.
I also read that restoration is not covered on this Denplan, which I assume means, if a filling is replaced or a crown is restored then you still have to pay that extra as its not covered, am I correct on this?
I also read that crowns are covered but not the lab part? It seems that A is covered but not B, even though A is a part of B. Plus what costs more, the actual crown or the lab part?
Maybe some one out there can explain to me what exactly is what that uses this plan or knows already?
Thanks.

I use Denplan. In the last two years I've had 1 crown and 2 bridges, each time all I paid for was the lab work - £35 for the crown and £67 for each bridge.
I can't tell you if Denplan are any better than others because I only have experience of Denplan. For me it was more about the Dentist than the policy, I found a really good dentist and he only operates under denplan so I went with them. All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -
I use Denplan, like Rudekid, because my dentist uses Denplan.
I pay a fixed monthly fee, determined at the outset by the condition of your teeth and past work done. It has risen by a small amount each year since.
I reckon over the years, the denplan cost is equivalent to what I was paying for NHS treatment but a fixed monthly cost.
My lab fees are £70 for a crown and I know someone that pays £150.0 -
Lab fees like everything else vary according to materials used and time to make.
Most crowns will be £50 to £250 lab bill but they can go up to £1000 for very very high end work!
A bridge lab costs will be around £110 for a very simple bridge replacing one tooth to five hundred and upwards.
Denplan costs vary from dentist to dentist but someone who has healthy teeth that have had not much done might pay £14 a month and someone with alot of previous work may pay £38 a month. All other treatment other than cosmetic, braces, implants is covered by the payments.
A second option costs around £12 a month and covers check ups x rays and hygiene visits and you get a discount off private prices for treatment.
You have to be dentally fit to join in other words you have to get outstanding treatment done first.0
