West End Availability Near Christmas?

My boyfriend and I are having a weekend in London near Christmas and want to go to see a musical. Does anyone have any idea what availability for discount tickets is likely to be like? I was hoping to just go to the tkts stand in Leicester Square but am worried that, being near christmas, we may struggle to get tickets and am not sure whether to risk it or just pay full price in advance to be safe.

We went to the tkts stand in Leicester Square recently during the summer holidays and the queue was massive!
I think if you have a particular show in mind that you want to see and are limited on the date then I wouldn't risk it. We didn;t manage to get what we wanted, but then we were restricted, so I guess it may work for some.0 -
