hi all i was hoping someone could help me.
i recently was looking for a job on gumtree and came accross one where they were looking for someone to enter listings for auctions for them. so i applied.
then i had an email back saying that they would require me to list their items for them on ebay (from my account) and they would pay me a percentage of the final selling price plus £10 for doin it.
the guy is selling campervans and motorhomes.
obv i havent done it yet but is this legal? cos if it is then i could do with the money haha.
cheers

It's legal, as long as the items actually exist and are not hokey, you follow all the rules on eBay (consumer laws particularly) of a business seller and declare your earnings to the taxman.
Check the terms of the contract carefully as you might end up as self-employed rather than employed."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

It sounds perfectly legal, but I suspect it's a scam whereby the guy ends up with the money, the buyer ends up out of pocket and you end up with a heap of trouble and probably the local plod paying you a visit...

from YOUR account, good lord NOBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

I would be asking why they can't do it themselves.
Especially if they want their payment before the buyer gets the item - so they get the money, buyer then finds out it doesn't exist, you then have to refund out of your own account.
I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole - if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.0 -

Yes - campervans and motorhomes are at the heart of a notorious scam.
However, the concept is simply that of a trading assistant which is perfectly legitimate in itself. A lot of people do make their living in this way - but I would say that if you are just looking for a 'job' you could do a bit better. I think it takes a lot of experience and understanding of eBay and business to do this and just looking on it as a 'job' underestimates the responsibility.
I'd do it for some items but not for everything, particularly not for the items proposed."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Unless you physically have the items sitting in your drive and will be taking cash payments, I would not touch this with a barge pole.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If they want that doing, they could create more accounts in their name and just give you the login for that..... dodgy as farq.0
