I gave my Landlord on the 11th of August a 30 day notice that i'm leaving on the 10th September. Unfortunately the house i'm purchasing has been delayed by at least 2 weeks so we can only move on the 29 Sept.
I asked the landlord if i could stay another 2 weeks and i would pay a full month[we dont owe any rent and property is in good nick]
The landlord states that he wants us out because he has other tenants.
My problem is i have nowhere to go and we have three kids.My kids go back to school this week and we were hoing this would be all over by now but unfortunately not.
My question is can he just come and throw us out because we've given notice to leave.I know its not his fault but i have no alternative but to refuse to move.
looking forward to any answers

What about his new tenants? Do you thinks it's OK for them to be homeless.

If you don't leave, then the LL will have to go to court to evict you, I believe. However, I also believe that if you give notice and then fail to leave at its expiry, you are liable for extra penalties (can't remember the details but I'm sure I've seen it mentioned on here) on that basis. Plus a potential claim for compensation from the new tenants who have probably given notice on their existing place on the grounds that you had indicated you would definitely be gone.
I'm sorry but you shouldn't have given notice on your rented place until you had exchanged contracts. This is standard advice and your solicitor should have mentioned it to you if s/he was aware you were in rented.
I agree with the other person's comment that the right thing for you to do is to move out, put your stuff in storage and move in either with friends or a local hotel / B&B pending completion on your new house.0 -

I do not understand your post. Are you trying to make a joke, or trying to use emotional blackmail?
The OP has given notice on his place. He chose to jump the gun and is now in this mess. The LL and the new tenants are relying on him doing as he has promised to do.
Why should they be inconvenienced? For all we know, the new tenants may also have children too.0 -
Sorry OP, but you will have to move out. You could opt for temporary accommodation, hotel or caravan. But as per deadline, your LL has already made arrangements for another tenant that he cannot simply ask to wait a couple more weeks before they move in.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

It's a quote from the Simpsons, and children or not, the new tenants shouldn't be inconvenienced..'' Ok Marge, if anyone asks, you require 24-hour nursing care; Lisa's a clergyman; Maggie is seven people and Bart was wounded in Vietnam ''0 -
I see.
I also now see that OP has started two threads on this. Grr!

I did mention it a couple of posts ago, but by the time I posted, several beat me to it and replied to OP!0
