Like the title says, boo hiss to my local newsagent, part of the Martin McColl group.
I just went there looking for a greetings card. I picked up one I liked, but the inner leaf with the poem printed on it had been stuck in the wrong way, so the poem was upside down on the back of the front flat, rather than the right way up in front of the back flap.
There were others of the same design that were ok. But being a moneysaver, I took it to the till, pointed out the problem, and asked for a discount. He looked at it, shrugged his shoulders, and said "No, I can't do that." He is the manager, so I guess he meant "I won't do that."
Good luck with selling that one then!

He'll just send it back to the manufacturer for a refund/replacement. Why should he sell it to you at a loss?0

Oh, I didn't realise they could do that. I thought he'd have to chuck it away.0 -

unfortunately customers damage items themselves (not in this case) and then ask for a discount, clothing is the worst they will try something on and remove a button or split the seam slightly so we usually send them back because once word gets around it happens too often, most people are honest though.0

I reckon he's more likely to leave it on the shelf in the hope noone notices! Worth a go trying to get a discount though.
Luvchocolate, your post reminds me of when people used to deliberately dent tins of beans in the supermarket because they could get then reduced! Think Tesco's are wise to things like that these days mind.0 -
Most stores don't have anything to do with cards and card stands. They tend to be owned by the card companies and the card company reps restock them and deal with any issues when they refill them.0
