in Cutting tax
Hello,
I started working 2 months ago and earned £900 pounds last month and was taxed correctly.
My question is, this month i will only be earning £550 so i will i receive some tax back with this pay?

I dont think so. What you will proably see instead is your tax being lower in the following months until it is correct, or you would need to claim the tax back at the end of the year.0

thanks for the reply, i cant see myself earning more than 600 a month for the rest of the text year so ill probably just have to claim it back then.0

No idea without knowing full details. Tax code and basis plus gross to date and tax paid to date as at last month.0 -
You can earn around £650 per month before you pay tax. It should sort itself out in the next month or so, then you wont pay any at allmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Only started working in july, so july gross pay was 900, i paid about 75 in tax and n.i
my tax code is 810L
i was receiving jobseekers allowance previous to this job but that was only a total of about £750 since april0 -

what did you do between april and june?
how much did you earn in July (your first month of employment presumably)
what is your tax code?
how do you know you were taxed correctly?0 -
The OP says they started work 2 months ago so the first thing that needs to be established is are they on a cumulative code or emergency tax, as yet we do not know. What they have paid or are due to pay depends on their tax code, and earnings so far this year, again we do not know this. Anyone answering without this information are just guessing.0

Still need to know your tax basis, 810L could be cumulative or month basis.
Did you have a P45? Has this been applied ie is your payslip showing the P45 details as previous pay and tax. To be honest on jobseekers rates if you did have a P45 I would not have expected you to pay tax last month, so I am suspecting you may well be on month 1 emergency but only full details will confirm.
Tax basis usually shows after tax code often as something like 1, 0, X, cumulative, non-cumulative etc.0 -
i did have a p45 and handed it to my new employer when i started, so i presume im on the right tax code, i thought 810L was correct?
basically, to put it simply, i estimate that by next april i will not have used all my tax allowance as:
april - july - 750 jsa
july pay - 900
august pay - 550
sept till march at avg of 600 pm = 4,200
750 +900+550+4,200 = 6,400.
all i was really wanting to know is will i get the tax i paid in july refunded with my august pay or will i have to claim it at the end of the year?
sorry for any confusion0 -
It will come back to you through your payroll, not sure when but it will certainly not be too long. You wont have to wait till next April anyway.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
