Please can anyone help? I am claiming maternity allowance as i was working as a temp during my pregnancy. This is due to end in Jan, does anyone know if i can claim any benefits after this? I would like to look for a job for a few mornings a week but this will barely cover nursery costs and will they reject my JSA claim as i dont want to work fulltime?

You can claim income support as you will have a very young child (under 5). If you work less than 16 hrs a week you may qualify for a reduced amount of income support. You can also claim child tax credit.

Don't give up on the idea of a part-time job though, as this will really help in future when you need to find full-time work (references, experience, continous employment etc). If you work for 16 hrs a week or more you may be able to get help with childcare costs.

I didn't think the OP could claim IS if she has a partner?RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
