Buying a repossessed car

Hi, I am looking for a used car and have been in contact with AAM Cars Public, a company that specialises in repossessed cars. They operate on an upfront payment basis on the understanding that you get a full refund if the car isn't right. They say they are a company ltd by guarantee etc and have given me a company registration number but their website does not make reference to their status which I thought it would have done. Has anyone heard of this company or indeed traded with them. Thanks for your help.

Nope but the addage given to me on repo cars was "if they couldn't afford to pay for it, then they certainly couldn't afford to service it"
If the company turns out ok and you go for it, factor in a major service for whatever you buy as part of the price.
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Keep enough money back for a new engine and gearbox with the associated bits clutch etc.
Its possible the car is a lemon and needs major work and the buyer just gave up and stopped paying for it.
Buying a car unseen and paying upfront?? Got money to throw away?
I have a Bentley, Rolls Royce, Porsche, Aston Martin DB9S, And any other car you can find with a google image search.
Any of these can be yours for £20,000. Dont have £20k? How much do you have? Send me as much as you can and you can have any one you like.
Just send me the money 1st and wait for delivery. The more you pay the quicker i can do a runner, Ooops i mean deliver the car of your dreams.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Hmmm......
Cars are very very cheap
No address or phone number on the web site
Web site written in "american english"
Pay up front for the car which then gets delivered to you within 5 days but you then get to inspect for 3 days and can get a refund if you aren't happy
Sounds like a good place to get a risk free bargain, I'd say go for it OP0 -
They missed something when they ripped the website off from whereever it came in the USA " All vehicles are sold with no sales tax since they are repossessions."
The website does not conform with UK standards - it should list the company registration number and a real address.
Why would you give over money for a car you haven't seen? These scams work because people are suckers for a bargain!
OP - you say you've been given a company number - you can check the company out at companies house - a basic check is free, to get a copy of their last accounts costs £2 or so.0 -
I would certainly buy a repo, especially in these straitened times, but from that website? Not a chance.0

If its a repo it may not have the keys
So its going to cost a bit for a new key or maybe locks.
oh and youu may have to wait to get a key cut if you dont have a v5 in your name.
If and its a big if this car turns up i would guess they have bought it an auction and not direct from finance company as they would want the most the could get for it.

You dont need keys because there wont be a car to put them in anyway.
Website built 2 days ago with US details and WAYNE for the address?
Seems its a UK LTD company but nor registered at companies house with that name.
No contact phone number, Not even a dodgy pay as you go one. Never mind a landline and genuine address.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Coincidence that this website and the other scam one we-buy-car both try to load comm100.com ?
Registered within days of each other?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I have just had the same experience as I have let a company car go and wanted a run around car. Spotted these guys and went on "Live Chat" asking company name, reg number, tel and address.
Got some answers and then after a polite request for the actuial companies name got a snotty, "you dont have to buy from us and if you dont like the terms and conditions" then they logged off.
I got some lame answers around the security of my money being returned, no answers on clients who have traded etc...
They claim its been going 7 years, but there is NO AAM Cars Ltd at Companies House. The actual company is AAM (N.I.) Ltd in Northern Ireland which is a small company set up a couple of years ago.
They would not give a phone number and searching there is no tel number for this company.
The Directors have 3 comapnies from what I can see, but no tel numbers.
My advice is that if they cannot give you an option for your money to be held either with the Bank or another system, you will find no car being delivered, no money in your bank and no way of tracking them down.
I would like to know how they can be reported to any authority for using the web to lure people in. I have the Directors names and company address but think this maybe a holding office.
The Live Chat was a lady "Eliza", if you ask a load of questions you get blocked immediately.0 -
