Access to work - causing so much stress

Access to work are really evil, my friend has a mental disability and can not leave the house, she has qualified as a beautician and need a work-area built, so she can work from home.

On paper Access to work should built her an area as she has a mental disability and without a specifically built work area she would not be able to work.

Access for work are unnecessarily prolonging giving her an answer. they have told her she will have to contribute fund to the project, but have not told her how much.

can anyone give her some advice??? please

Access to work will only supply things that are above and beyond what a non-disabled person would need.

As your friend is a beautician she will need to fund her own bed, work station (unless that needs adapted, but then A2W will query how she managed to qualify), products etc.

What they can offer is anything that a non-disabled beautician would not need to set up business, so a PA to deal with anything your friend can't do unaided (I'm thinking accounts, purchasing equipment).

If you outline your friends needs I might be able to give some more advice.

Access for Work are not being evil, they have rules and guidelines to follow. Does your friend also have physical disabilites? What specialist equipment is needed for someone with mental health in order to be a beautician.?

Build her an area? Like an extension? Genuinely, that's what I wondered when I read the post :D

Or do you mean create an area in her own home where she can set up a defined place to work?

I receive ESA & DLA amongst other things and would love an extension being built to the rear of the garage. It will have to be soundproofed as well as being kept at a reasonable temperature.
I was a semi pro drummer until I became ill. Not being able to cart my gear around to a studio everytime I want to practice, It would be beneficial to my health as well as as improving my chances of improvement medically speaking.

Have got a couple of tours/festivals lined up for next year so I need all the practice I can get.

Do you think I would get any funding?

Nope, I reckon they should send you to ATOS for a reassessment as you clearly fail to understand that state funding is there to try and help us rehabilitate, not create our own soundproof booth in order to practice and get ready for Glastonbury.
