Find your family history for free!
The Daily Mail is giving you an exclusive chance to begin your family tree in association with findmypast.co.uk, ScotlandsPeople and Your Family Tree magazine.
All you need to do is get online with the name of your parent or grandparent, and you’ll easily be able to find several generations of your family in just a few hours.
By collecting daily passwords from the paper, you can acquire credits to use on the fantastic family history website findmypast.co.uk where you can search census records, birth, marriage and death records and many more to find your ancestors. You’ll be able to piece together your grandparents, great-grandparents, second cousins and so on in no time.
You’ll also be able to get free copies of Your Family Tree magazine to help you with your family history search. This magazine is the best place to learn about the fascinating hobby of genealogy, and shows you how to easily find ancestors and the incredible lives they led.
Simply get your code every day with the Daily Mail, and you can get more credits to search for your ancestors at findmypast.co.uk and more copies of Your Family Tree to help show you how to continue doing your research.Simply CLICK HERE and register your details and you will receive 20 credits to use at findmypast.co.ukstraight away
Then start collecting your passwords from Monday to get extra credits. 10 passwords will give you 40 PayAsYouGo credits worth £5 and 20 passwords will give you 85 PayAsYouGo credits worth £10.
How to get going…
Step One:
To get you started we are printing a password in the newspaper on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September.
You will then automatically be transferred to the findmypast.co.uk website. Follow the steps on findmypast.co.uk to claim your free credits – you’ll need to register on the site first, which is quick and easy to do and it’s free.
Step Two:
From Monday 17 September we will print a series of passwords each day in the Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday until Thursday, 11 October 2012. Simply collect 10 different passwords from the 25 printed.
10 passwords - Once you have entered 10 different passwords from the paper you will be sent an email with a unique code, a link to findmypast.co.uk. If you haven’t already done so, register with findmypast.co.uk as directed, enter your unique code from the email sent and you will receive 40 credits in your findmypast.co.uk account (RRP £5). You will also be able to click the link contained within the email to download your free copy of Your Family Tree magazine (RRP £4.99).
20 passwords – When you reach 20 different passwords, you will be sent another email with a new unique code which will enable you to redeem a further 85 credits, plus another link contained within the email will allow you to download three more Your Family Tree Magazines and a bookazine.
If you enter all 20 passwords at once, you will still receive two emails with two separate codes and links to redeem the entire package of 125 credits for findmypast.co.uk and four Your Family Tree Magazines and bookazine.0
