I have had the credit card since 1996, I have asked them for a full list of charges they charged me, they have sent me a list for only the last 6 years, is that right or should they have gone back to 1996 ? any one help ?

How did you "request it"? Under a subject access request from the Data Protection Act? Simply asking for it in a letter without mention to the DPA?
If it is under the DPA they must provide you with everything they hold in a reasonable medium for recovery but for most companies they will only hold records for 6 years because cost of data storage is expensive (when talking about the volumes banks have) and the law of limitations generally excludes any action after 6 years0 -

Thankyou.
No i didn't mention DPA, i just wrote a letter asking for a statement0 -
You'd be better off doing a subject access request under the DPA because they then must provide everything that they hold on you as long as there isnt undue costs etc
It may well be worth checking what their record retention policy is however as there is no point wasting £10 and up to 40 days to just get the same information.
Given the limitation for action of 6 years however, why are you wanting to see the older records?0 -
Thanks,
I know that i have been over charged on some fees and i want to claim it back of them, but it looks like it must of been over 6 years ago0 -

Which credit card fees are you expecting to have refunded?
And in what way do you think you've been overcharged?0 -
