Help with a letter please

Hello all

Having received a "Notice of court action" letter from a DCA regarding an old defaulted debt they have given me 72 hrs to make a payment. I ahve contacted the CAB (who will call me back next week) and the CCCS whom advised making a nominal payment to show willingness to pay untill i can see a debt advisor from CAB and to stop any court action. I thought £10 does anyone know of a template letter to send with the payment or how to word the letter?
all help appreciated please (as you can see I'm not too good at putting "pen to Paper"
Cheers folks

Hi hun, really dont like doing this. But go and pop into the consumer action group website. Sign up to them. Its free and a similar site to this. When you have done that come back and let me and i will guide you to the letter you need to send off. Dont worry about the 72 hrs. They are trying it on. I am not saying dont pay them. Thats not why we are here. But you need to make sure you are paying the right people and also make sure they have not slapped on extra charges or interest. So pop off then come back. I will talk you through everything

Have you made any payments in the meantime, or been contacted? Bit rich asking you to pay it in 72 hours if you haven't heard from them in 3 years!!

I sent Barclays a simple letter along with my budget showing what I could afford, and making them the offer, along with the first payment. It went along the lines of 'Dear Sirs, please find enclosed a summary of my income and expenditure. As you can see I am in a position to offer you XXX a month/week and as a gesture of goodwill enclose the first payment with this letter. Please acknowledge both reciept of this letter and payment, along with a written agreement in order to move this situation along. Best regards etc.' I also put in a sentence about removing my phone number from their database and only contacting me by letter in future.

I could do with you letting us know who the DCA is. How much the debt is, who the original creditor was, You know all that sort of stuff. What was the original amount.

Ok hun. Just for now you do NOT acknowledge this debt. Just for now. Right. What we need to do is send off a letter off to DCA requesting a true copy of your credit agreement. That will cost 1.00. Then a letter off to liverpool Victoria . Which is the Subject access request. This will give you all the info you need to see what extra charges have been added on. Once we have those we can then make them an offer to pay. Now the PPI. were you told you could have the loan unless you had the PPI. Once the letters have gone to the DCA and L/V the debt is in dispute and this will buy you some hun.

Oh and you must not speak to them on the phone. Only communicate in writing. From now in you must have a paper trail. They have to do the same thing.. Just read my text in last post. Meant to say buy you some time
