Switch from Barclays £15/month a/c to another barclays a/c..

I'm trying to help a friend out. Lives in Spain - and prior to moving out there - he seemed to get himself signed up with a pakaged current account - costing him £15/month - for stuff he simply doesn't use or need.
Is there an easy way online for him to switch this account over to a 'normal' Barclays current account? He doesn't really have an address in the UK these days - so whilst he wants to switch, he doesn't want this to involve replacing existing cards.

Assuming he has telephone banking he should be able to downgrade over the telephone.
This may well trigger new cards being sent because many banks brand cards to the account level but that may not prevent the old ones from working.0 -

Thanks for taking the time out to reply. I will check back with him and see if he has phone banking. In the meantime, if anyone knows definitively if they will issue new cards in a case such as this, please post here.0
