Anyone claimed ESA purely for mental health issues?

I've been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression. I'm currently on income support for ill health but I expect I'll be moved over to ESA fairly soon. Anyone here claim on the grounds of mental illness? If so how did you get on with the form and WCA?

I think I'm going to apply for it. The symptoms I get for three quarters of most months seems to be the same symtoms of other people on here who say they have mental health issues.

I receive ESA for my mental health. I do have physical difficulties too but that doesn't stop me working and neither qualifies me for ESA or DLA. The form freaks me out (as does any official form tbh) so I tend to get help with it but I know others cope with it fine.

  • Quite a few people who visit this board regularly get ESA due to MH problems. When it comes to being transferred over to ESA you'll quite likely be sent an ESA50 form to complete and return to ATOS HC who will determine whether to order a face to face medical or if they have sufficient info to provide their advice on you in relation to the Work Capability Assessment already.

Important throughout is to get an appreciation for the descriptors that lead to qualification for the two groups of ESA.. WRAG and Support.... and try to get any supporting medical evidence you can.

This could be a particularly useful document.
