Same Buyer - Different eBay Accounts

Hi there
We sold a couple of items on eBay this evening, both 'winners' are the same person but have different eBay usernames and different addresses in the same city.
He has a positive feedback of 4 on one account and a positive feedback of 1 on the other, all being recent transactions.
He hasn't paid for either item yet. I was just wondering if this sounds dodgy. We don't use eBay much so unsure whether anyone has had buyers do the same?
We've also had a buy it now auction 'won' by someone this evening with zero feedback and not paid! Hopefully it's just a case of not understanding how eBay works.

Always make sure your BIN auctions have - require payment immediately - attached, the auction will then only end when payment has been.
I know a few eBayers who have more than one account, but it sounds strange to have bought items using two different accounts?
What were the items? might shed some light!?0 -
I had someone do that but they messaged me before using the other account. They had buying problems apparently. Message them, if no reply in 4-5 days, open a non pay case0

Not everyone sits on their PC 24/7 so it's a little premature to be deciding they aren't going to pay yet if the auction closed a matter of hours ago. If it's two user-names and different addresses -why do you think it's the same person ?
If the (real) names are the same you could send a polite email asking if they've bid twice in error and if they want to cancel one sale.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I have more than one buying account and have on occasions bought one thing, decided I want another and accidentally logged into the other account to buy.
Also, as with the advice above, it pays to have your BIN listings as immediate payment required.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for the replies.
The items which were not on 'buy it now' were DSLR/SLR camera lenses. The auction ended in the afternoon and wasn't aware it was the same buyer until I checked our ebay account in the evening.
The reason I know it's the same buyer is because the name is an unsual one and both addresses are registered in the same city, not far apart looking at the postcodes. Also his initials are used in both usernames.
Up until this morning, he still hasn't paid up. I will email him this evening. The fact he hasn't paid is not a great concern at present, as I am well aware some people are not tied to their PC's 24/7. I was just wondering if the scenerio sounded dodgy that was all. However, I would hope he pays up within the next 2/3 days as we're off on holiday at the weekend.
As for the 'buy it now' auctions, the listings are set for immediate payment, we've not had payment for that either.
We haven't sold on ebay for a while but had a clear out of things we no longer use and thought we'd put some items on. The last time we had hassle with people not paying or trying to get something for nothing and it put us off listing and we sold things locally instead.0 -
I have several accounts, I've bought from people with different ones, maybe not in quick succession, but once for instance I registered a new account to take advantage of one of those referral offers and messaged the seller just to make sure they were aware I was a regular customer of theirs using a new account. But you don't really have to do that and it's impossible to dictate to customers how they use their accounts unless one or the other is on your BBL. Unless they don't pay, I don't think it really matters - and even then I would just treat them like any other non-payer.

Just a point of warning:
To be honest I think you are playing with fire listing expensive items like that so close to going on holiday. If there are any problems, e.g. INR or SNAD, the buyer will need to get in touch with you to sort things out and you should really go off on holiday in the knowledge that all your sales are complete and the buyers are happy - which, practically speaking to me would mean making sure I didn't list within about two weeks of going away.
Obviously business sellers can't wind things down in such a way but if you are a private seller there should not be any rush to sell these things and it's cutting it a bit fine.
Just make sure you keep up with your emails from an internet cafe or something like that."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

.
If your listing was set for Immediate payment the buyer could not have bought the item without payment. There was a glitch, but I thought it had been cleared now. I bought around 10 BIN items yesterday, all with immediate payment required and even though they were mainly from 2 unique sellers I had to check out and pay for each one individually as they did not show as sold to me until my paypal payment was made.
As for holidays, I tend to close a full 8 days before holidays of any length over 4 days, as 8 days is what I need to open and close a full NPB. I'm sure no one else worries as much as I do , and many probably sell up to a week before, but I would hate to go away with an uncompleted sale, what if they get paid late and pay you the first day you are away? It could be really problematicI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Just send the items tracked and signed for (but not recorded) to the addresses shown in the PayPal 'Safe to send' email.0

Hi, I've done the same before. I've bid on one thing then decided to goofbay another, forgetting the goofbay one is a different account. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
I'm also waiting on a zero feedback person to pay £25 for a watch. If they don't pay within a few days I usually send them a message along the lines of : if they are having problems with paypal to let me know or I am happy to accept a postal order.
Good luckI must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0 -
Having checked our account properly this evening to prepare the other sold items to be sent, I looked at the feedback on our lens buyer.
It appears the 4 positive feedback are actually negative comments about him bidding but not paying. The 1 positive feedback on his other account is for one item he has sold.
I emailed him before noticing this, so know not to expect a reply. I will relist when back from holiday.0
