capital one over limit

hi all, i have a capital one classic card and i went overlimit for a period of 1 week and have since cleared half my balance (only £500 limit) i was wondering what the consequence of this would be, i know about the charge and i have paid that i am just worried that i will not be able to use the card for some reason or there could be a reduction of credit limit? many thanks in advance

  • You will probably incur an over limit fee which I think you know about.
The card should be ok to use once your payment has cleared but the only sure way to find out is to ask them or try it.

They are unlikely to cancel the card for one overlimit, which by the sounds of it was a mistake anyway.

Just give it a go and try it, I'm sure you'll find it'll work just fine :)

I did the same about a year and a half ago on my Cap One classic.
They won't reduce your limit or cancel your card, but this does normally mean that you may be exempt from any credit limit increases in the near future.

Capital One say they get monthly feeds from the CRA and that they review accounts monthly for signs of credit management habits. You may have been flagged internally so that they do not consider you for increases for the next 6 -12 months.

This was what I was told by a Cap One rep when I phoned to see what the reprocussions would be when I went over limit.
