How long to show up in paypal?

Had a problem with a transaction and the seller is refunding part of the payment. Just wondering how long it takes transactions to show up in papal, as they reckon they put it through yesterday morning?
I'm not being impatient, there's no rush, just surprised as I thought it would be almost instant.

Unless they've got money in their Paypal it can take days to get your refund, as it has to be transferred. (I think it's around 7 days)
I would have thought though that you would get an email saying that a refund has been initiated & how long it should take.

Think it can also depend on how you paid, by Paypal funds, bank or card.

Have a look at your original payment details, it may say something in there about the refund.

The same happened to me yesterday.

I had funds in my PP account and used that to pay for the item.

Was offered a refund from seller as they said it was damaged.

Accepted refund but it is saying it will not clear till Friday.

It seems a bit unfair as I now don't have a balance in my PP account to spend.

OP , it may be worth noting that if you made the original payment via paypal with your debit card , the refund wont go back to your paypal account , it will go straight back to the debit card bank account.

If you have online banking check there tomorrow. Any refunds I have received have only taken 2 days to show in my bank account.

I think there was enough in my paypal account to cover it, so it shouldn't have gone onto my card.
And at the moment there's nothing showing at all, no pendings and no emails, so I'll have to give it a bit longer and see what happens.

Just to help the OP.

Where is that information found?
Under the original PayPal details or as a separate transaction?

If you log into PP and then go to the transaction then tab details and that is where I found the date it will go back into my PP account.

I have never experienced this before it usually is refunded immediately.
