endowment policy

Hi,

My dad has just pasted away and he has got a endowment policy that was not performing. The policy was for £12000 and he got a letter last year stating that his policy was under performing and he would only get£6750 approx when the policy finishes next year. Now that my dad has passed away will my mum now get the £12000? It said in his opening policy that the insurance was for £12000 or the paid in amount plus bonus, what ever was the greater. Confused!

Endowments usually have a guaranteed death benefit which is the full sum assured i.e. the £12000. So you should get the full £12000.

Thanks I thought she would get the £12000. I hope so as the first letter gutted my mum and dad. The company didn't care if it made it sum. A con from day one
