When we took out our life insurance my husband was a reformed smoker. He has since started smoking again, should I notify the insurance company as on the the documents he is a non-smoker?

He shouldnt inform the insurer unless the gap between non-smoking and smoking was short. i.e. does it look a bit suspect that he perhaps only stopped to apply for insurance and then started again. A long gap, especially one where the GP records show he had stopped and would therefore verify any enquiry by the insurer is not an issue. A short gap without evidence of stopping doesnt look good on paper.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
