I would second going back to the referring professional and seeing if thery can liaise on your behalf, often they will make exceptions.#
Do you have any children? If they're under 5 years, sure start children's centres can support with this. If they're older the school may also be able to access funding. For example some areas have local welfare trusts that also issue food vouchers separate to the food bank scheme.
Alternatively, it might be worth contacting your local church, some of the ones in our area run similiar schemes.0 -
I'd say the only way is by going back to a referring professional - especially if you went direct the first time. In this area it's quite common for the food banks to liaise with each other to stop people 'doing the rounds', but they don't all work that way.
Also worth contacting your Uni and asking about emergency assistance.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
We've just used the recent Asda glitch on about £4,000 of food for this purpose (total cost £272.16), most of which is in the freezer at the back of our warehouse and will last us the next 3 months.
We run a food bank through 3 catering vans sponsored by the company I own, charging 50p a meal (and they ain't small, either) and 30p for a tea/coffee (free with vouchers), but in essence, the van pays for itself. We take large amounts of food donations directly, and many food banks do. Only general rule is that you drop off at our office, where it goes through the back to the warehouse!

Cryptic33 - hope you get sorted and good luck for the future.
I started my £100 Charity Grocery Donation Challenge today, though I've amassed approx. £200 worth of stuff already by using and abusing coupons/offers. But I want a totally separate budget now for 12 months.
My 1st 20p got me 4 free tins of Heinz 5 Beanz (4 free coupons) and 2 packets of Green's Pancake Mix with Golden Syrup (50p and used 2 x 40p coupons).
Hoping my £100 gets loads and loads of stuff with the use of coupons as above.
I'll be donating twice per month now and will done this Wednesday once I've picked up some cheap basics.
I'm going to ask the centre if they have a limit per person or is it just "help yourself".
CKhalvashi - well done, a great commitment.

Silly question here sorry. Our food bank for Trussell Trust isn't open yet but when it is I would love to donate. Is it ok to give Value/Smartprice Items? x0

I give value / smartprice items, as well as some branded items depending on what i've managed to gather to give. I use the rule that I don't give anything I wouldn't be prepared to eat myself.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I wish supermarkets would put a container out for donations either food, or cash to help people. My local Morrisons even did one for pets but thats now gone I use to donate to it once in a while. I hate to see any one hungry and do without due to our so called caring society all too often the media portray the benefit system as handed out tons to people when often that's rare0
