Can you insure a rail season ticket?

I have just bought an annual season ticket (South West Trains) for about £3.5k
I know that if you lose it they will replace it once, minus an admin fee, but then if it happens again you are out of pocket (by rather a lot!)
Some have suggested that it is covered under house insurance up to a limit, and I really don't intend on loosing it once let alone twice, but is there a dedicated insurance you can buy for this?
Seems strange that there isn't...

From my home contents policy, the definition of personal money:-
Cash, cheques, postal orders, unused postage
stamps, savings stamps and certificates,
premium bonds, luncheon and gift vouchers,
season tickets, travel tickets, travellers’
cheques and phone cards, all held for social,
domestic or charitable purposes.0 -
Check the limits i think mines limited to £500.
Any items worth more must be itemised.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
An insurance broker can increase the cash limit on a policy. However for loss outside the home (i.e. not from robbery etc) the premium may be rather high.
Also, if you hold annual travel insurance, this will usually cover loss of tickets, which may cover a season ticket.
Unfortunately as the railway will replace the first ticket lost, insurers know they will have to cover the second and subsequent losses, and people who've already lost one ticket are considered high risk.
One of those wallets which attach to your belt with a key-reel might be useful.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
My friend took a high quality scan of his ticket 'just in case' - and last year he lost it. Taking it to the ticket office, they were satisfied that he was the original owner (he also supplied his CC receipt), and they issued a replacement FoC.
(This was his second, the last one was eaten (destroyed) by his baby - and he took a scan of that replacement!).0 -
You guys are good... Thanks for your advice0
