If an individual can't afford it then they should ask someone else to help pay it in some kind of mutually beneficial arrangement.

Oh yeah I forgot about the freedom, you get to pay more and could be kicked out at 2 months notice because a stanger feels like it, sounds well worth a premium.
Interestingly the average council/HA rent is less than a mortgage yet private rents are more than mortgages... which one is doing it right?Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

I can't see a problem with lending critera and deposits, yes its a culture shock from the previous free for all but they are more than reasonable.

Certainly.
I have to pay off the mortgage so it's nice to have a bit left over for some of the finer things. Or perhaps to expand and buy another property. The money has to come from somewhere you know.I can't see a problem with lending critera and deposits, yes its a culture shock from the previous free for all but they are more than reasonable.
Quite right. I saved. You've saved. It's perfectly possible.0 -

We keep on reading fancy calculations on here about how renting is so much more beneficial, especially when you consider the mandatory 2-yearly boiler, roof and double glazing replacements.
I had to replace my roof 3 times this year already, renters don't know how good they have it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
