But if it involves buying a brand new version of photoshop when you could just use the one you have, that pretty much seals it for me. I wouldn't even consider forking out money for software I already have, just to switch to a Mac. That's just crazy. You could buy a nice new screen to work on for that sort of money.

If you phone Adobe customer services (yes I know they're crap) on 0207 365 0733 they will send you a Mac version in exchange for your Windows one.

IIRC you have to pay the postage & a handling fee but it's about £10.

I also know of a couple of people who are buying CS2 and using Adobes upgrade to migrate to CS3. (CS2 is a bit slow under Rosetta unless you max out the RAM - CS3 is Universal).

Yes I know about the bluetooth worm and Oompa Loompa and Leap A. None of which were viruses - you had to download and install them.

They are still Viruses, Self executable or not.

Been looking at the Apple store, have to say I don't think there's any way I could afford a Mac.

You have my sympathy. I didn't get where I am today by not being able to afford a Mac (or six). Sometimes you have to spend money to make money.

that's what I thought but I didn't want to get into a whole "definition of viruses" argument. Besides I'm pretty sure there aren't any viruses for Risc os :D

    Viruses:

"Almost all viruses are attached to an executable file, which means the virus may exist on your computer but it cannot infect your computer unless you run or open the malicious program."

Whichever way you argue they are not, those are 100% viruses for Macs:D.

The bluetooth worm (Inqtana) is a proof of concept, propagating via bluetooth.

Oompa Loompa is Loop-A. It's an in joke. Leap A only affects applications (not the system) that are created in Cocoa and not owned by Root. (Oompa Loompas were paid in cocoa beans). The flaw that allowed it to contaminate someone's machine has IIRC been fixed - feel free to correct me.

The amusing thing about it was that while lots of Windows malware masquerades as "naked Britney pics" or whatever Leap A was disguised as new pics of OSX 10.5 Leopard. Computer geeks  :p

Apple software is never going to be invulnerable but it's a good start.

And now we're wildly off topic :)

    RISC OS 4eva ;)

Not as if I'm anti mac, I'd be happy to buy a mac as well if I was rich. Along with many other computers and gadgets. But hopefully my work (most of which is done on pc or by hand) will pay off in the long run.

Considering we were given the Britney Spears guide to Semiconductor Physics as a genuine incentive for learning in lectures years ago it must mean Apple fanboys are even geekier than physicists!!! :D
