The Turn2us online benefit calculator has fields where a claimant can enter who else lives in their household - perhaps it will manage to calculate this more complex scenario?

Can I ask what the DLA at £20 weekly paid to mum is, is it the care component or the mobility component as both are the same £20 weekly?

Is mum on ESA or is it Income Support?

Her tax credits seem very low as well?

I would be surprised if the calculator could manage this as if the OP adds her Mum on the calc then the calculator will treat Mum as a non-dependant which she is not.

I strongly advise the OP to talk to the housing benefit department and describe the scenario as posted.

:) Good luck for the future

    ..

    yes, tis complex.

The fields in the calculator do have selection options including friend, relative, lodger etc and say "Non-dependants are often people like grown-up sons or daughters and elderly relatives...A non-dependant is a person who lives with you but is not liable for paying rent."

Is the mother automatically classed as a dependent because of the DLA?
