What companies do Named Driver NCD?

Options
As in you can build up your NCD while a named driver.

I know it usually only then appplies to policies from that company but are there any other benefits/negatives of this?

You can't build up an NCD for being a named driver, however, if you went with the same company they are more likely to give you a new policy holder discount.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Any named driver, not just the main driver, earns a No Claims Discount with Admiral. Named driver No Claims Discount can only be used with Admiral policies.
    and this

Churchill now offer your named drivers the opportunity to earn their own Named Drivers No Claims Discounts (NDNCD).

Named drivers can earn their own discount while they remain claim free on your policy. They will be rewarded with up to a maximum of 5 years NDNCD when they take out a Churchill policy of their own. Other insurers may not recognise NDNCD.

The Named Driver No Claims Discount may be lower than the No Claims Discount (NCD) available to you as the policyholder. Once applied to a policy the NDNCD works the same way as NCD in that if you make a claim the NDNCD will be reduced.

I'm thinking more for the long term

If the car is for your daughter and she's the main user, you either need to arrange a policy in her name or if she is a named driver ensure that she's declared as the main user.

If you lie to the Insurer, there's a good chance they will find out if / when she has an accident. The financial repercussions for the policyholder eg the parent if this happens can be very high and continue for a long long time.

? Does that mean they offer say 5 years discount after your a named friver for 5 years but the discount wont be as high as if you really had 5 years no claims of your own to use?

This is not a case of fronting. I'm the daughter and I won't be using the car that much because I'm at uni most of the time so my parents will be using it but I want to be able to use the car too
(Hopefully I won't have an accident too!)

Yes, I think that's the gist of it.
    Here we go from Co-op

    Named driver discount

Co-operative Insurance is one of only a few insurers to offer named drivers up to three years No Claim Discount (NCD) when they apply for their own policy with us – this could be worth up to 65% off their premium.

    How does it work?

    • Ask your named drivers to call our Customer Contact Centre on 0844 844 22 22.
    • Their details are stored on our system, which will recognise the number of claim-free years of motoring they have enjoyed on your policy. It doesn’t matter if you or any other named drivers have made a claim – the discount is calculated on their personal driving history.
    • We can offer them an NCD based on the number of years they have gone without making a claim, up to a maximum of 3 years – which could save them 65%.
    • Named drivers start to earn their own NCD from age 19, so the first time they will be eligible for Named Driver NCD is from the age of 20, provided they have been claim-free on your policy and any other policy for the past 12 months.
The following table shows how much discount your named drivers could be entitled to:
Number of claim free driving years No Claim Discount 1 year 50% 2 years 60% 3 years 65%

They gave my wife a full NCD on our second car in her name. Two years later her NCD was fully recognised when she swapped to Green Insurance.
