Marriage and V5C change - MOT due end of Sept

Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker

We got married at the beginning of August and I've just looked up when we need an MOT for our car and it is due the end of this month but I need to change my name on the V5C.

Can I send it off and get it back in time? If I sent it off and didn't get it back in time would it matter?
