It doesn't make any difference who you buy from, its all just one big cartel. They take it in turn to put up prices and ofgem is a sock puppet for the industry to give a pretence that there is some kind of authority governing what they do. They are just like the banks, a few wealthy individuals decide how much they can screw you for whilst collecting massive pay and bonuses.

Companies are owned by their shareholders, the fact that a company is based in the UK does not mean that the majority of its shareholders are UK citizens, pension funds etc.
