Advise of flooring

Hi guys

I'm buying a newbuild house and would like to have some advise on selecting tiles and carpets which we are getting on our own. We are a family of 3 (includes 1 year old) and have no pets.

It's the first time we are buying carpets/tiles so any advice much appreciated! We are looking for something which is easily cleanable, lasts longer and not too pricey. Don't know iF the twisted ones are better than Loop/saxony? Should we go for light colours ? What else to look for? Carpets are for bedrooms/living and tiles for kitchen/ diner.

Cheers!

Kids and light coloured carpets are not compatible, unless you have them continuously reigned in.

Buy the carpets YOU like and the tiles YOU like, you don'y need views/advice on taste.:D;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Saxony is lush but don't put it anywhere other than a bedroom,is my advice!

Have a look around in some carpet shops.

  • Definately dont buy from the builder as the quality is poor for the price you pay.

We moved into this new build house when my son was 2. I got cushionfloor for the bathrooms (slate effect) which I still like and is really practical with small children. We got a light carpet from the stairs upwards which has worn well, and although it gets slight marks on it, has stood up to the small childrens mess.

We didnt go for tiles as I was aware of children dropping things on them (they arent as careful as we are ;)) - and they are cold in the winter for small (and large) feet!
