An offer I can't refuse or should I?

I've put my husband's old film camera on Ebay with all it's bits and pieces. The camera isn't worth much but it does contain lenses. I've had an email request from someone offering to buy the two lenses for 7 times the starting price plus postage cost to China. He has asked that I send him an invoice and he will pay via PayPal.
Is this allowable under Ebay rules and do I need to wait until the end of the auction date before I can sell.

I wouldn't ship to China, and no it is against eBay rules unless you re-list or edit it to a buy it now at that price.Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

The fact he has said that would make me worry.
That term is meaningless, it remains your responsibility to get the items safely and undamaged to the buyer. How reliable is your courier for China?
If going at over £150 you will also currently need a guaranteed signature on arrival don't forget as well as tracking that guarantees online confirmation of deliveryI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've sold loads to China...including a book that was £250. International Signed for is fine. The Chinese market is a great one & I've found it more honest than the UK one, however do make sure that you do a BIN and payment through Paypal.:T2013...nothing..still hoping though!!0

I don't think so
http://www.royalmail.com/delivery/delivery-options-international/international-signed/faqs#Are all International Signed For
Are all International Signed For items electronically tracked when they are delivered?
We track all International Signed For items until they leave the UK and then the item is handed over to the destination country's postal service as a priority item. The following countries will have tracking overseas; a scan on arrival into the country and on delivery: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ireland, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Japan, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia Sweden and Switzerland
~~~
Note China is not included for tracking
also remember you need additional insurance as standard insurance is still only £46
Paypal currently require a signature on arrival for items over £150, that is as well as full tracking- so this is not a suitable service for ChinaI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Full tracking only becomes relevant if you are dealing with a claim. OP states the item is 'not worth much'!! You cannot approach every sale as though you are selling to a fraudulent buyer..99% of buyers are honest.:T2013...nothing..still hoping though!!0
You need to protect yourself, so if this is under £46 then OP wouldn't even need tracking or a signature so it becomes a non point.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yes, but you only know you ar dealing with a claim once the item has gone. Without insurance you aren't covered by RM.
ISF is not guaranteed to give any tracking let alone a signature, which is currently needed for a claim.
It may be ok for you, but when someone asks, it's best to give them the whole story.0 -
I'm generally with Soolin on this. I would add as an extra caution that it does look odd to be sending a camera to China. If someone in China wants to pay a lot for it, chances are it's probably worth more. Especially as cameras tend to be manufactured in China for substantially less than they are ever sold for here..0
Thanks for all your comments. Since posting I've had two further requests for 'Buy Now' option. One offered £10 more than the Chinese offer and the item currently has 7 Watchers. So I think I'll leave as is and see what happens.
I still don't think the camera is worth anything but I think the lenses maybe.0
