I bought my little one some Ecco shoes recently - they lasted ages (for a 4 year old who spends his entire time kneeling down and playing in muck and sand) The clarks trainers I bought 6 weeks ago are ready for the bin already as he has worn the toes out.

  • I too buy my ds school shoes from Clarkes and have never had a problem, they last until he out grows them. Last September I decide to try a cheaper shoe shop (james something & I think they were a tenner) for his shoes as they only wear them at break time as they have to wear pumps in school, but this turned out to be a false economy as the cheap shoes didn't even last until Christmas before they had holes in both soles! So I am sticking with Clarkes.

Now my son is certainly not light on shoes or clothes, he averages a week before he puts a hole in the knee of his school trousers and at £13 for 2 pairs from BHS this is costing me a fortune - He has only started doing this since he went up to the Juniors, were they are allowed to play footy at break so I think this may be the cause! Would it be too mean to ban him from break time football?! I suspect he would never forgive me if I did.

I buy my dds shoes from Clarkes and the only problem I have is that she is outwearing the soles on the heels quickly.

She has had her new ones since middles of January and it wont be long until she will have holes in the heel soles.

In their defence though, she wears them pretty much everyday and we walk loads and she is 3 (nursery). They still look brand new apart from the heels.

I iwsh they would make the heels on the younger shoes more hard wearing!!

We get our Clarkes from the Outlet village and usually pay about £16 for them, we buy trainers from there as well, usually £11-12. I have bought shoes at Walmart in the sale for £6 and they have worn really well but he tends to only wear them once or twice a week.

I meant to add my DS is hard on the toes of his shoes - I polish them at least once or twice a week to keep them looking halfway decent.

Hi - My DS started school last September and is currently going through shoes at the rate of one pair per term!!! (which is better than trousers - he is currently on his 7th pair!). None of this is helping my DFW situation!!!
I have to buy him decent makes of shoes because his feet are so wide it takes a while to find some that fit him properly. I have been buying clarks and am finding they don't last two minutes (other friends have found the same). Please can anyone recommend other makes that will fit my darling's wide feet but alos last a little bit longer???

My kids school has a policy of them taking outdoor shoes off and wearing plimsoles/soft soled shoes inside school. It means that their school shoes last all year.
They took my signature away!!!!

I have always bought Clarks for ds who is now 12 and a size 5 but has a very narrow fitting. Never had any problems wearing out until this year (his first at secondary) They have literally fallen apart, school is very strict on uniform so am going to have to pay out again for more shoes.
