Chocolate Beetroot Cake recipe

Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall has a lovely recipe for chocolate beetroot brownies - here. I've made it a few times and it's very nice indeed.
The taste is rich chocolate cake with a little added "something", but I don't think anyone would guess it was beetroot unless you told them.0 -
Just seen that Nigel Slater is doing Beetroot Cake (don't know if it's with chocolate) - BBC1 6pm

My colleague made one of these a while ago. It sounded disgusting at first but tasted like a very moist and light choccy cake. Very yummy!!0

Funnily enough, I made a chocolate cake with finely chopped beetroot in yesterday. OH had eaten the leftover vacuum packed beetroot so I just fished a couple of large beetroots out of the pickle jar and washed off the vinegar before chopping and adding to a chocolate cake mix. After baking, I let it get cold then spread a mixture of melted chocolate and double cream over the top, a ganache topping in other words. Once set I cut it into pieces - really moist and chocolatey, very nice! One life - your life - live it!0
