My youngest would love an Ipad, but I just can't afford one. He already has an Ipod.
A friend has recommended this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/MOMO11-SPEED-display-android-bluetooth/dp/B008NJS7LY/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1346531756&sr=8-14
She doesn't have it yet - she's buying it for her son for Christmas.
The technical specifications are a bit above my head. Can anyone tell me how it compares please?

Thanks for your reply. I assume that it is better, but can you tell me why please?
Can you use Ipad apps on this? I've googled, but it doesn't look as though you can.
Any more help or opinions appreciated.0

You can only use iOS apps on an iPad
There are really only two options right now, an iPad (easier to use for the non techie user, better UI conformity, better hardware (retina etc)) and the google nexus 7 (cheaper, open source, more customisable)
I develop for both platforms, if you just want a cheap tablet, lots of functionality then get a Nexus 7, if you want something that its very intuitive out the box and will deliver a good experience then an iPad.
At the moment Apples app market control is superior to that of Googles, in that all apps have the same look and feel. However the latest Android OS (Jelly Bean) which the nexus 7 runs has started to make inroads into this.0

Sorry OP You had already expressed an interest in an Android tablet,

My friend told me that the Momo runs the same apps as the Ipad, which is why I asked about it. I don't really understand much about operating systems and have no idea what UI conformity means - you've probably gathered I am a complete novice when it comes to tablets. 0 - you've probably gathered I am a complete novice when it comes to tablets. 0

Only Apple products run Apple apps. Visit the Google Play store to see whats available on Android.

That as may be but if the OP was looking at a momo for iPad apps then either platform (android or iOS) could now be interesting to the OP.
As mentioned I develop for both platforms (and RIM(blackberry)) so I'm kindof impartial and view each platform as having its strengths and weaknesses.
Whats the point in only suggesting one platform without giving people an understanding of what each platform offers?0
