  • Have ITV a actually told you that vanpopple?
I had an email from ITV only last week saying it was fine to use different phone numbers and that by bulk entry they mean the use of automated entries.... They never mentioned using more than 3 phone numbers. Not that I've got the time to fill it in for more than 3 numbers..
    2012 wins = £933 :j
    2013 wins so far = £4,025 :j

July wins: Holiday to Marbella :j

Thanks for this info. This is the first I have heard of a maximum 3 phone numbers. I have just randomly selected a few of the T&C for the ITV comps and in none of them did I see this mentioned - just six entries per phone number. How can this be stated for all ITV comps?
  • Sorry never heard of that vanpopple if they dont say it in the terms one number per pperson then its not true

Itv are now checking ip entries hence why they have now put limits on entrys.
Its because some people have been using 10+ phone numbers, but now if an ip addy shows up more than 3 phone numbers then ALL the entries by the person are discarded.

There are many perfectly legitimate reasons why a single IP number may have more than 3 phone numbers associated with it - e.g. if you enter the competition at work then you and your 45 colleagues who also enter may well appear to come from the same IP number; or how about if you're using your local Starbuck's free wifi - everyone will appear to have the same originating IP number. "Household", "Address", "IP number", "Person", "Phone Number" - these are not interchangeable units. They're all different.

For the above to be even vaguely legitimate the same IP number would have to have more than 3 phone numbers registered to the same person at the same address. Name alone isn't enough because there may be more than one John Smith working in your company or logged into Starbuck's wifi, and address alone isn't enough because there may be more than one household at the same address (e.g. renting a bed-sit). And this isn't quite what is stated above. Besides what's to stop you from entering at home, at work and at Starbucks? IP restrictions are not usually used in cases like this. Rather the other way round (i.e. you must originate from a specific IP number to be eligible).

As far as I can see the T&C only stipulate the number of entries per phone number, not the number of phone numbers per person.

I think the variances come from the fact that it's ostensibly meant to be a phone competition so the regulations are to do with maximum number of phone numbers called from, rather than an online competition where the restrictions are usually to do with a maximum number of email addresses. Or postal competitions where the restriction is on household addresses.

This is an STV comp with its own T&Cs, makes no difference to any other comps T&Cs.
  • I've never understood why they allow people to enter six times per number.

It is so they can maximise the revenue from those who pay to enter using phones and texts.

And as they are legally bound to give those who enter by web entries the same chance this is why we get six entries for free.

I have searched for the thread that i saw what i said on,
    but cant find it.
It was in the comms of a post last week (i think) i just put what i could remember, Im not sure about their guidelines - i presume you can enter with any phone number, i just cant remember what exactly was said in the thread.

Tbh i wouldnt worry i enter 3 numbers (as most regs do) and only enter 3 times not 6 per number - again due to that seems to be the best formula from the winners on here, (think weeowens won itv comp with just 1 number)

When i first started 6 months ago i used 6 numbers, but with 2/3 itv comps a day on average its was too time consuming for a comp that has over 200,000 (upto 1million if you believe itv) entrys.

Great comps great prizes but odds still similar to winning a big lottery prize.

Yes amazing really, like the lady in usa who won the lotto 3 times in 9 years!!!!
Although the odds are way less than most comps, theres always a chance, and the old adage is - 'you've got to be in it to win it'
I mean with all ive won its like an itv win, but would definately like a very large cash win - over £1000, my highest so far is £750 & £500..
(but if i never won another prize again, im 100% happy with what ive won in so little time, it has changed my life for the better (which was what i set out to do) & my familys especially seen as ive still only been going for 6 months)

Well good luck to all in all comps, i hope you all get your dreams however long it takes x :T
