Turn2us - council tax benefit

Hello all, I would appreciate some advice :)

I have just put our details into the Turn2us calculator and the end page gives the correct amount of child benefit and ctc that we receive but is telling me that we qualify for council tax benefit.

However we do not claim any other benefits so should I be dubious of this, could it be a mistake?

Brief detail : we are a family of 8, dp earns around £33k before tax, we have a mortgage
Thanks.

Just done our councils own calculator and that says 21p a week lol! Interestingly theirs makes no differentiation between working tax credit and child tax credits?

I wouldn't have thought you get anything on 33K a year - Especially as I *think* perhaps someone can clarify that CTC are counted as income too if no other underlying benefits etc

That was what I thought ( I was using the calculator to see scenarios with dp's wage going down as it's going to early next year and also what effect me getting part time work will have on tax credits etc so I can budget accordingly, if i'm successful of course lol!), I was very surprised to see that on the list at the end, maybe there is a glitch or I clicked something wrong down the list somewhere.

    Hi,
The entitledto calculator is normally pretty accurate, as you have 8 children your council tax will include 8 child elements as well as the usual family element etc so it is possible that you could qualify. The easier answer is to put in a claim and see :)
