Is my car insured?

Got my renewal letter and docs from Bell a few weeks ago. Shopped around but found their quote was comparable, so have stayed with them. Letter stated that I need do nothing, as payment will be taken from the credit card I used last year. Policy started today, and for some reason I decided to read letter again. The creditcard I used last year had an expiry date of 11/11. The number is correct (or last 4 digits shown) but as its been renewed the expiry date is different. I haven't heard anything from Bell, so I assume it's ok, but panic has started to set in. I have the insurance doc (sent with the letter) but am I insured?
Oh btw just tried to ring them, but they are closed til Monday.

They may contact you for new card details to take the premium. This has happened to me with Diamond before (same company as Bell).0

If they took payment before and the main card number has not changed, they do not need the new expiry date (as you have an existing relationship with them). Only if the main number changed would the payment fail.0

check your card statement onlineDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Is it not a good idea to phone them? Or would you prefer to get stopped for no insurance and have the car impounded because they couldnt take payment and cancelled it?
Just read all the posts where people have had their insurance cancelled for failed payments.

Well I did manage to get through to them today and the payment hasn't been taken (because it's a weekend) but I am insured. I have updated the expiry date, but it would have been ok, as the number is the same. The payment will be taken this week. The odd thing is that the AskMID insurance database says that the car is now not insured. I queried this and was told that it can take up to a week from new insurance to show on the database.Me transmitte sursum, caledoni0 -
I had the same issue either this year or last year and the threads on here about insurers cancelling polices with no notice, Even though it was their fault sticks.
I phoned them to see why they had not taken payment and they didnt know why, Still took them 5 days to take it.
Years ago i would have been happy, I have my certificate so im covered.
But these days with the MID etc its too risky to ignore it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Under continuous payment authority the expiry date isnt checked on the 2nd and subsequent payments.
In addition to this Mastercard and Visa operate a "card updater" service which a merchant with a CPA can (or more accurately should) use to check if the number is still valid and if it isnt if a new number is held for you. That said 3 years ago when I was last dealing with card payments the uptake of the service was exceptionally low and there had been teething problems0
