I seriously give up now

Been left a neg today for an item I haven't even sold! Feedback states I sent the wrong the "widget*"
I have sent the buyer a message but also thought I would speak with eBay. Surely they will see this has been left by mistake and remove.............oh no "its the buyers opinion and we can't edit that"
It may well be the buyers opinion, but why am I being kicked in the nuts when I didn't even sell them the product they are unhappy about. A quick look at the their feedback shows they purchased 2 or 3 of these things at the same time they purchased a different item from me.
Not the neg that has annoyed me but I will now have a 1* in As Described and who knows what else across the rest.
*Widget used to cover actual item

Ring them or if you aren't up to that then email/eBay message...Hi buyer, I am sorry to hear you were unhappy with the *not widget* you bought from me. Please let me know what the problem is and I will do my best to resolve. Look forward to hearing back, *not widget* seller.0

I will phone the buyer but not at 6pm on a Saturday, I might try tomorrow afternoon or when I am back in the office on Monday.
I have sent them a message as well. I am just amazed at eBay's attitude to it all.0 -

I didn't suggest you call now. The neg is there, there is no rush!
Just try and resolve the 'problem' before you broach feedback and a revision.....hopefully they will realise and you won't have backed them into a corner.
Btw I would not call tomorrow, Sunday callers are not welcome in some houses!0 -
I'd call eBay again first thing Monday morning and try to get the Irish cs. As above I'd also call the buyer, sometimes calling them surprises them so much they agree to anything. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. I've had a few confused customers contacting me about something I never sold.
I remember one call was about ten minutes before I was due to board a plane for a holiday. The chap started with a long rant about how I'd cheated him, I managed to calm him down a bit, explain I was actually at an airport. Then I asked a question and we both realised he didn't mean me, then told me my item was great.
So calling could be the easiest.
Also if you are a buyer calm down a bit before you complain for the first time;).0
