Breach of Parking Conditions

I feel bad.... I parked without paying in a permit only area of the hospital I work in. Only meant to be five minutes but got caught up with work as you do, they got me about 20 mins after I parked. (but I really should not have parked there :o). There were plenty of other spaces so I did not prevent anyone else fom parking.

So the advice is not to pay and ignore any letters - is that correct?
It is from Car Parking Partnership. I feel like maybe I should offer to pay them for the parking that I did use, but don't want them to know it is me :( , car is my husbands and registered to him.

    Don't feel bad. :)

You don't owe a third party anything and you were at work doing a proper job, unlike the PPC firms. Don't contact them at all, honestly.

Have you read the third from top thread 'PPC letter chains' and seen the Watchdog link? More importantly, has your husband seen it and does he understand that he can safely ignore the letters he will receive?

  • I have had a look, and yes I have told my husband , however, he does not believe me that we dont have to pay. I shall try and get to the letters before he does. one of the posts say they have been contacted by phone, how would they get our number we are XD but can the DVLC give it out? Husband is hopeless on the phone and will probably cave in if they talk soicitors, court, bailiffs and scary words like that!

Many thanks for your quick reply, like others on here I just need reassurance that I have read everything correctly, thanks for that.

    Then he's a mug.

How much does he pay to email, phone and door to door scammers every month then? These jokers are no different.

well......he chats to them for ages which is more than I do :rotfl:

The majority of people obviously believe that they are not scammers and are legit otherwise there would not be so many of the companies still at it!

Quite, which is a very good reason for not paying. Anyone who does not pay is helping to reduce the majority of those who still pay up, thinking that the PCN's have any law backing them.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

That is soooo like my husband! He got a cold call on his mobile from some ambulance chaser after his car was hit when it was parked and empty. He had a cheerful conversation with them and finished 'nope, but thankyou very much for calling!'

Whereas I deliberately wind up cold phonecallers, wasting their time or ranting at them!

When I got my first fake PCN 4 years ago I laughed at it but my OH thought that not paying it was some sort of 'MSE loophole' to get away with it. He was jumpy every time a letter arrived. He still seems to think that because a firm puts some signs up in a car park that they 'must' be issuing parking tickets that have some sort of authority.

To be fair, he's an intelligent guy but is just fairly easily convinced by any letter with an air of authority or someone in a high-vis jacket. Same as most of the UK population then...

Do you have a permit if you work there?
Is your own car on the permit?
Are there any t&c's are in your contract about parking.
