Hi
Sorry for the rush, but need to make a decision before going to work!
My washer has died and I need one quickly, I can have a 1000 spin machine delivered and working this afternoon or wait until Tues and pay a bit more for a 1200 spin.
I just wanted to know if there is a massive difference, I'd really like the cheaper one this afternoon, but I don't think I've had a 1000 spin before.
I don't mind them not spun to within an inch of their life but I wouldn't like them wringing wet either!
Any opinions welcome

Just ran into the kitchen quick to check mine ... on my Siemens the fastest it spins is 1000, I only use this for towels, everything else I spin on 400 so I would go for the cheaper one.

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
I have a 1600rpm machine. It's great for getting towels and sheets virtually dry before they come out!0

I used to have a 1000 spin machine but i have recently bought a 1200 spin machine. There is clearly a difference between the two but I'm not sure how much difference it will make to you.
If you use a dryer I'd say go for the faster spin - if you get more water out you wont need to put the drier on for as long. If you dont use a dryer, might as well go for the slower spin.0 -
Can any1 tell me that when you do joint connections with water pipes. Are these priciples the same when connecting a gas joint? What else should l use inorder to make sure the joints will not leak any gas?
Gas men r rip offs, rather do it my self.0 -
Hi,
eh,,, think you're maybe in the wrong thread here, this is about washing machines.
About your gas connection, I think I would rather be sure job was done properly than risk a calamity, even to save money.0 -
Are you sure it has really died? I was told mine had by the repair man. Went to the Co-op for another and described the fault. The woman said, 'oh, that's your brushes gone' and gave me the number of a local shop. They sold me brushes and told me what to do. It took me about 40 mins to sort it, just a couple of screws and the washer lasted another three years. Then I did the same with the belt.
I don't do much DIY but this was easy. Might be worth a tryDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -

I think you need to post your own thread... But to answer your question, it is ILLEGAL for you or anyone else who is NOT qualified, to preform gas installations or modifications to an existing gas installation. In other words, you (or it might be they) would be breaking the law if work was done to your gas supply without the person carrying out the work being qualified. You asking the question would immediately tell me you're not qualified!! - Don't quote me on any of the above, but make sure you seek sufficient advice. Take a look at THIS thread for more advice (not legally binding!!)
Regarding the original question, If you already have a 1000 and are happy with it then why change?... If you have a higher but use a line and things dry quick enough for your needs, then a 1000 should be fine. If you're energy and/or environmentally conscious (oh and money conscious, which I guess you are because you're on this forum) then stick with the 1000. Otherwise go for as high a speed as possible, but only use the high speed settings for items that normally take an age to dry.
I hope the above makes sense, I'm shattered!!!

Hi,
did the same, machine was spinning intermittently, searched web for reasons.
Result, new brushes on motor, still going, cost £4.50 and a wee bit of my own time. :T0 -

Good point!!! - I assumed the original poster was getting the machine replaced by insurance/guarantee! - Always worth re-reading the post you are replying to!!

We have a lovely local repair man who confirmed what the Hotpoint helpline told me, it seems that even if he got the part for me, I'd still have to pay Hotpoint £90 plus vat to come out and plug it into their computer.
I opted to get a very cheap one straight away and go after Hotpoint for the repair as it's only just over 2 years old and the main circuit board has gone.
Just for a laugh the fault shows as F.O I just can't think what that stands for!!!!!!!!0
